Sandy Beach Public Use Area - Solon

This review is on the Public Beach Area and not the campground. The beach is in desperate need of some TLC!!! Weeds, rocks and cockleburs everywhere. There really isn't a beach anymore. I know this area floods but come on, please take care of the area!

Love this place. Sometimes a bit crowded, but it's a beach in iowa so can't really complain. Plan ahead if going because there is no bathroom. Nice place to go in the spring too if you like bird watching! Don't forget to pack some water and sunscreen!

Great campground, close to boat ramp and beach, lots of shade and grassy areas.

Big parking lot, 5+ picnic tables, boat ramps. Only bad thing is it floods easily when the water rises.

Check in was easy with polite staff. However another staff was short with her comments on check out for a family member. Facilities are clean but only 2 showers for a large number of campsites is insufficient.
