Contribuiți la feedbackWe went to the city on an afternoon looking for an open restaurant for lunch. We stumbled over the restaurant i excellence. It looked very busy with locals, but the house's wife found us a table. We were lucky when the next people came in. We couldn't find a mistake with this restaurant. From our Kir Royal thru Dessert everything was exceptional. The house made Fois grass with carmelized shallots was to die. This was followed by a filled juniper we both loved. There were so many interesting things on the menu, plus a table with the daily specials we would have loved to go back. Unfortunately, we found this restaurant last day in Soissons, so we need to return to a future trip.
Eighteen of us have booked here not sure what to expect. Service incredibly efficient and everything with a smile. The food was excellent so that the restaurant is properly named. We were so impressed that we booked immediately without knowing that it was their closing day. But... that wasn't mentioned, and when we showed up on Monday, we realized that they had opened up specifically for us. Again a delightful evening meal had us all. To reduce the experience, the owner gave some of us an elevator to the hotel as taxis were not worth while the hotel was too close. Certain service beyond expectation. Well done and compliments to the cook. Not easy to produce such quality for 18 diners if not know what could be ordered.
Our visit to L'Excellence on Sunday was a wonderful accident. We had stopped at Soisson's way home from Reims and wandered around the city, decided to eat. We stumbled through this restaurant by chance when we almost went to the restaurant next door! I'm so glad we didn't. The sun seemed, so we sat on the terrace, the waiter I think was also the owner was welcoming and attentive, We both chose the menu du Jour, the one mousseline de foie gras for the starter, it looked absolutely stunning and tasted just as well. Then we had both quatils filled with potato and a flower coal. Again, the presentation was fantastic and it tasted wonderful. Although the pudding looked good, we were both full and finished our lunch with coffee. When you visit Soissons, I recommend visiting L'Excellence great food, friendly service and excellent value for money.

It looked very busy with locals, but the woman of the house found us a table. We were lucky, as the next people to come in were turned away.We could find no fault with this restaurant. From our Kir Royal thru dessert, everything was exceptional. The home made fois gras with carmelized shallots was to die for. That was followed with stuffed quail, which we both loved. There were so many interesting things on the menu, plus a blackboard with the daily specials that we would have loved to go back. Unfortunately we found this restaurant on our last day in Soissons, so will have to go back on a future trip.

To cap the experience the proprietor gave some of us a lift to the hotel as taxis did not find it worth their while as the hotel was too close by. Definitely service beyond expectation. Well done and compliments to the chef. Not easy to produce such quality for 18 diners when not knowing what might be ordered.
