Popeyes Famous Fried Chicken - Slidell

We heard a lot of good things about Gus so of course we had to try it while being in New Orleans. Firstly I have to say that we had the most amazing service! The half chicken was great! And the sides were all delicious as well.

Very good food. Very good, not great. There are a few gas station food marts in the NOLA area that have fried chicken that will knock your socks off. Gus's was very good but will not knock your socks off.Server was OK. Nice young man. Just tentative and not professional. Did not have good menu knowledge. Poor training, or maybe no training at all.Fried pickle spears were excellent. Potato salad was very average. Atmosphere was very nice.My chicken leg was fresh and very hot, but my 2 thighs were just warm and gave the illusion of being cooked 15-20 minutes sooner than the leg.It was good, I'm glad we tried it but probably not a place I'd return to.I understand the chain started in Tennessee. We are huge fans of Hattie B's Hot Chicken, so that's why we tried this place. They can't touch Hattie B's fried chicken, in my opinion. I'm only comparing the quality of the fried chicken in that statement, these are two completely different styles of fried chicken, but Hattie B's Hot Chicken HAS to start with great fried chicken. And I like it a lot more than Gus's.

Amazing! Best fried chicken I have ever had. It was spicy not because it was hot but because they were just so many flavors kicking you in the tongue at one time, I'm lactose intolerant. I ate the mac and cheese anyway. It was amazing and worth it... Coleslaw, was phenomenal! It was on a sweeter side. Not too sweet. Not a sweet enough for me but great nonetheless.

My husband and I had a late night craving for fried chicken. We had Gus’s delivered to our hotel. They were prompt and the food was delicious! The fried chicken Was cooked perfectly and spicy. My favorite sides were the potato salad and cole slaw. Will try more sides next trip.

This food was so good, we ate it all before we thought to take a pic! Chicken is crispy with great seasoning. The greens, and Mac and cheese were excellent!
