Nothing appeases a sudden snack craving better than some freshly fried bread. Especially on a cold windy drizzly day in Skagway, Alaska. We came by on a brief stopover on the Nieuw Amsterdam to ride the Klondike train followed by a walkabout town. Saw this from a distance with a crowd milling outside it had to be good. No regrets! Looks like it’s run by a team of energetic college students. Shared one with the wife. The cinnamony sugary snack hit all the right spots. A little pricey though.
It's a huge Sopaipilla. Order pay in the left line, exit store and get into the right side to pick up. Pretty solid hot, fresh, some soft pieces, some crunchy pieces, I just wish there was like a honey station or something
Line was long BUT efficient. Well worth the wait, yummy treat to have while touring the town. Inside the bakery they also have other Alaskan treats and trinkets you can buy. As well as merch for the bakery. It was $7.25 when we got the dougbboy
I had heard about this shop from various cruise blogs and youtube vlogs. A doughboy is basically an Indian fry bread or a large flat funnel cake with cinnamon sugar. They have a small shop with some things like tea and hot sauce as well. The line moved quick and I got my doughboy pretty quick. They are large and definitely sharable. It was hot right out of the fryer when we received it so be careful but also having it be warm hit the spot on our windy day in Skagway. It was perfect for snacking while walking along broadway. There are also a couple benches right outside that you can snag to sit and eat if they aren’t already taken. It was a yummy warm snack! Highly recommend!
