It 's rare to happen upon a place this good by accident, and when you do you pay attention. Heartwarmingly welcomed onto the outside terrace with a warm Cretan embrace, you 'll enjoy the company, the food, and the view. Service might be a bit slow, but the food makes up for it. Skip the de rigour items and find the local gems on the menu; I 'd highly recommend the boiled onions with oil and vinegar (they aren 't onions but wild leeks from the surrounding mountains) and the apaki pork. A delightful stop on the way up or down the mountain, will definitely seek it out again!

Maria and Niko are the best and make everything run so smoothly. We come every year and absolutely love it here. The party on Sundays is always a lituation. The food is amazing and the service is quick. A+ feta in the oven.

Little taverna in the mountain village of Pefki. Stopped for drinks on a day exploring the hills above Makry Gialos. Pleasant place with views down the gorge below and monastery above. This place also has live music once a week which sounded like an interesting opportunity to enjoy a dinner with music in a Cretan mountain environment. This is also a popular watering hole for those that have walked up the gorge from Makry Gialos to Pefki.

January 2024. A sunny day. While touring through the mountains we accidentally came across Piperia tavern. What a great location, a beautiful view!
