Wow. Traveling on past glory for sure. From the pretty bland/grumpy greeting to check out that couldn't figure out how to use a gift card/credit card combo...
If you come to Sister Bay and don't stop at Al Johnson's, you are doing yourself a disservice! A decades old, family owned establishment serving Swedish...
Heaven... Is this what food in heaven will taste like? I didn't want to go didn't think it'd be worth it ...I was wrong!! I admit it! As we left they said could have a 2.5 hour wait for lunch..we agreed it'd be worth it! Where else can you getmeatballs for breakfast? The pancakes were so thin and light! Lingonberries were delightful made the pancakes even better! Ham,eggs, meatballs all cooked to perfection! Ham was especially good! Can't wait to go back for lunch!
The highlight of this restaurant for me was the appetizers we ordered—poutine, onion rings, and cheese curds. However, the cheese curds from Sheboygan were definitely superior. We also tried a couple of fish baskets, a perch sandwich, biscuits with gravy, and the Benedict Florentine. Overall, the meal was just average; nothing I would rave about. I think the main attraction here is the goats on the roof during the warmer months. I’d suggest exploring other dining options instead.
