I enjoyed their food so much and was amazed by their serving decorations... I will definitely be back again, such a nice place for dinner...
Chef Long’s recommendation is excellent. Foods are amazing. I tried the 3 different types of uni, lobster with uni sauce, okinawa kuruma ebi sushi and toro shushi. The only word I could think of was...delicious! All ingredients are so fresh. And the staffs are so friendly and attentive. Must try.
Delicious sushi place in Singapore. The sashimi melts in your mouth. Being from New York, I thought the wait for the food was a little much (only 3 tables occupied) but it was worth it! Loved the theme of the restaurant. Thank you!
At one end of the restaurant, a large TV screen showcases video clips taken by a pilot of a small aircraft landing in various breathtaking locations, such as the Faroe Islands and Naples. Watching these videos is a mesmerizing experience, as you’re treated to stunning views of clouds, sea, and mountains. The attention to detail extends to the menus, which are illustrated with airplane blueprints, and I even spotted two genuine airline trollies among other thoughtful design elements that contribute to a memorable dining experience. Nonetheless, it’s the superb food that keeps me coming back. I used to enjoy the lunch sets, which at $15 come with miso soup, salad, green tea, and ice cream—a fantastic deal. My favorite is the kurobuta tonkatsu, but there are numerous other options, including chirashizushi, black sesame soba, salmon teriyaki, and wagyu beef yakiniku. Recently, however, I’ve been drawn in by the fresh seafood and daily specials. The restaurant flies in fresh seafood four times a week, and the chef skillfully prepares some of the best hotate (live scallops) and uni (sea urchin roe) in town, along with shirako (salmon milt) among other delicacies. On my most recent visit, which was particularly delightful, my group of four began with the sashimi moriawase, customizable by Chef Wong. Ours featured otoro, ocean salmon, Hokkaido flounder (matsukawa karei), sanma marinated in ginger and spring onions, and hamachi, all perfectly sliced and artfully presented on ice. We paired it with some refreshing sparkling cold sake, and everything disappeared before you could say "Hold your hotate!" Next, we enjoyed superb oysters, freshly shucked and delicately seasoned with the chef’s special ponzu sauce. Following that were the sawagani—tiny, perfectly shaped ‘waterfall’ crabs that are deep-fried to a lovely orange. One of these crabs offers a flavorful, crunchy bite. Despite my many trips to Japan, I had never encountered sawagani before my visit to Sushi Airways—definitely a must-try for any Japanese dining experience! Then came the makis one, two, and three. I have a special fondness for these, which likely explains why I fell in love with this restaurant initially. The ebimaki features crunchy tempura prawn rolled in sushi rice, crusted with sesame seeds, and topped with crab mayonnaise, caviar, and edible flowers. My personal favorite is the double salmon roll, where the salmon slices are blowtorched and finished with a crispy piece of salmon skin. The combination of flavors and textures is simply heavenly. Last but not least is the lobster mango roll, generously filled with mango and lobster in mayonnaise, served atop delightful brown sushi rice. I can never visit without ordering at least one of these maki rolls, and my kids adore them too. After such a satisfying sushi feast, we were nearly full, but we still managed to make room for the chef’s off-menu special: a piece of tender rockfish braised with mushrooms and a hint of ginger in a flavorful soy sauce, served warm and garnished with spring onions and julienned cucumber—comfort food at its finest. Our total bill for the four of us was a very reasonable $230, including service, and remarkably, they do not add any GST.
