My husband and i had the 1-1 High Tea ala carte buffet. We truly enjoyed our time fully. From 1pm up to after 4pm. The staffs are really friendly and helpful. They made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. 6 types of TWG teas, which you can change after finishing one pot. Please don’t be greedy and order all You will not be able to finish. We opted out several dish and still end up being full not being able to eat the dessert tower. Heads up for you. Don’t go there to rate the food like Gordon R. Just enjoy the time eating slowly and drinking your tea. It is still very delicious, especially the mini burger set, juicy beef patty and the smoked salmon sandwich.
Quiet, grand and great ambience in the absolutely busiest section of town....Bugis!! Service is helpful and friendly. Food is good value for it's reasonable pricing. Especially the all-day breakfast ....Triple folded eggs German sausage. Great job management!!
Went over for their lunch buffet on a quiet afternoon during the weekdays and there were only five tables including mine. It's a rather small restaurant and the buffet spread was quite limited. However, the food quality was good for the price paid (S$18 per pax under promotion). We started off with the salad bar for some fresh greens with sauce and condiment. There were some seafood on ice like prawns, mussels and clams. A mixture of Asian and western cooked dish were also available such as potato gratin, salmon with teriyaki sauce, beef goulash, minced chicken roll, duck slices in orange sauce, fish in sweet and sour sauce, broccoli in oyster sauce and some soup. There was also a live station where a chef would cook pasta and prawn noodle (a popular dish in Singapore and Malaysia). Forget about the pasta and go for the prawn noodle, it's broth is so flavorful and it tasted even better when you have it with the prawn from the seafood counter. Lastly the dessert bar consisted of a chocolate fondue with fruits and marshmallows, some pastry and ice cream. Service was alright, plates were cleared promptly and all the staff were polite and friendly.
Beneath an unobtrusive exterior lies a gem of a place for lovely afternoon teas and impeccable service. Right at arrival, we were received warmly by the reservations staff who also settled us in at our table with a selection of exotic teas. The exquisite set of afternoon tea for two was scrumptious to the last morsel, and each item was introduced to us patiently by a friendly petite waitress. Of notable mention are: the chempedak green velvet cake, with real juicy chempedak in it, the luxuriously creamy durian pengat, and the royale dark chocolate black forest cake, tasting of rich and decadent chocolate heaven with a hint of liquor. Loved the mini bánh mì with pork pâté and cured meat too reminscent of lazy lunches on sultry Vietnam afternoons. All too soon the delightful afternoon had passed and the same waitress came to enquire if we'd like to takeaway the items we had yet to have. Said waitress went the extra mile to let us know the clotted cream for the takeaway scones had to be consumed as soon as possible. Overall wonderful experience at Royale and what the hotel might lack in terms of external adornments is fully made up for in beautifully delicious fare and great service.
