Contribuiți la feedbackWas really skeptical about typical China food but this restaurant really makes me have a complete change of the food. Variety wasn't that great but then the taste wasn't too bad. Only pity was the pickled fish was slightly oily and salty but the tatse was good, fish was especially tender and no fishy taste. However, the fish wasn't properly descale and debone, kids and elderly have to be careful when eating. Apart from that the pork for the crepe would be good if seasoning is not too salty and slightly starchy. Overall, the food was good. Xiaolongbao and guo tie is really nice.
NEW: Came back 3 4 weeks after our 1st visit. Ordered mostly the same stuff with 2 new additions/ changes. The beef fried rice was very average, it looks different from the egg fried rice previously but taste pretty close (simple a tad bland . The 水煮牛 was a little disappointing nowhere near what you'll expect when in China (but we won't know if we didn't try it . Overall, it was still a fantastic dinner. OLD: We had a craving for a taste of China after watching some China food programs.. so we came to check this place out ~5:30pm (and a long queue started forming just 30mins later . We came seeking for authentic China and that's what we got (barring the 炸酱面 .. we really enjoyed the fried duck, 小笼包, 门钉肉包, 手撕包菜腊肉. We are certain to return in full force some day. Love it.
Restaurant has a long history since 2004. La mian is hand-made by them so texture is good. Overall, enjoyed the dishes we ordered. Very authentic Beijing cuisine and flavours.
Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at a local restaurant where I indulged in some authentic Chinese dishes. Here’s a detailed breakdown of my experience. **Dishes Tried:** 1. **蒜泥白肉 (Sliced Pork with Garlic Sauce)** 2. **京酱肉丝配薄饼 (Shredded Pork with Soy Paste and Popiah)** 3. **干煸四季豆 (Dry Fried French Beans with Minced Pork)** 4. **小笼汤包 (Baozi Stuffed with Juicy Pork in a Bamboo Steamer, also known as Xiao Long Bao)** 5. **老北京炸酱面 (Noodles with Soybean Paste, Beijing Style, also referred to as Zha Jiang Mian)** 6. **红烧牛腩面 (Noodles with Beef Brisket in Soy Sauce)** **Food Quality:** The **Xiao Long Bao** was absolutely delightful! Each dumpling was packed with juice, featuring a thin, delicate skin encasing tender pork that exploded with flavor. The **Shredded Pork** with soy paste was another highlight—its meat was incredibly tender and savory, complemented by a sauce that was both sweet and aromatic. Moving on to the **Dry Fried French Beans**, I found that the dish could have benefited from more thorough stirring, as the saltiness was inconsistent. Some beans were bland, while others hit the perfect seasoning point. However, the **Pork with Popiah** was wonderfully executed. The tender, flavorful meat paired excellently with the popiah, adding a lovely contrasting texture. I do wish they’d offered more sliced spring onions on the side, as they would have enhanced the dish further. The two noodle dishes—I tried the **Zha Jiang Mian** and the **Noodles with Beef Brisket**—served more as fillers. They are indeed satisfying but might be better enjoyed when shared, especially considering we may have over-ordered. **Ambiance:** As for the ambiance, the restaurant doesn’t place a strong emphasis on aesthetic appeal. The air conditioning could have been a bit stronger, which made the dining experience slightly uncomfortable. However, it is worth noting that they have a dumbwaiter system in place, which effectively speeds up the serving of food to customers. In summary, while the restaurant might not win any design awards, the food certainly shines, making it well worth a visit for anyone seeking delicious and authentic Chinese cuisine. Just remember to order with sharing in mind to fully enjoy the variety without feeling overly stuffed!
I thoroughly enjoyed every dish; there were no misses on the menu. My favorite was definitely the salted egg mushrooms. The restaurant features private rooms upstairs, but keep in mind there's no elevator. I've visited three times for weekday lunches, and each time the restaurant was quite busy, yet we were able to get a table without any wait. While the food can take a bit longer to arrive, it's definitely worth it. One downside is that they charge for water, which I didn't appreciate.
