Went to East Coast Park for a morning walk and then popped into the East Coast Lagoon Food Centre to have lunch. I tried this stall for the first time. I must say the pork ribs were really good. The pork fell off the ribs so easily and that 's how we gauge the quality of the pork and the cooking. The soup was sufficiently peppery and the rice was ok. But I do wish they serve the black soya sauce in a larger dish to allow for the pork ribs to be dipped. Black soya sauce is a must with Bak Kut Teh. The recipe was brought to Singapore by migrants from Fujian in China. Although 'teh ' is a Malay word for tea, there is no tea in this cuisine.
The whole table worth of goodnees only set us back for $14.60 The pork knuckle is fork tender, full of collagen goodness but not falling apart. However i personally feel that they could do more garlic and spices in the dark lor bak sauce. The bah kut teh soup that comes with the set is just so good! Its tasty and flavourful!
Nice big portions. Soup refill can. EPay can. Would go again. Good value also.
Nice lady hawker. Tasty braised tau pok, tau kua hardboiled egg. Pork rib bak kut teh not bad, a repeat. Value for money, reasonable.
