Contribuiți la feedbackSince 1972, Silverdale's Whaling Days has been a family-oriented festival in the Old Town section of town. It always takes place on the last weekend in July and offers fun for all with booths, rides, a "Whale of a Run," fair food, and games. Interestingly, the festival is run entirely by volunteers. There is a beer garden and fireworks on Friday night, as well as a duck race with a chance to win big. Additionally, there is a stage set up with excellent musical acts performing live throughout the weekend. It's a cool summer event with a real small-town feel to it.
I believe that there was a lot of effort put into this event, but unfortunately, the sketchy atmosphere of Silverdale was apparent. The crowd was somewhat questionable and not very welcoming. The booths were typical of those found at fairs, with arts and crafts, businesses, massages, organic products, and crunchy snacks. The highlight was the Duck race, but overall, there was nothing particularly thrilling.
