Shophouse - Silver Spring

The food is absolutely delicious. The aromas are quite strong, and some of them might not blend well together. I've heard this concern from others, but I tend to choose all the spicy options, and it tastes fantastic. My only drawback is that you can only select one option from each category unless you pay extra, and the portions are smaller than what you'd typically find at a Chipotle-style restaurant.

We received a warm welcome as we entered the restaurant. I made my usual choice of the green beans over the squash, and I was pleasantly surprised with a small extra serving of vegetables. They confirmed that I wanted the sautéed vegetables, which I usually prefer lighter on the sauce; they were vibrant in color and flavor, and there was plenty in the bowl. I enjoy my vegan bowl with a generous amount of their Thai paprika, especially since I can't eat the Siracha they offer. However, when I finished my meal, I was told I couldn't take my trash to the bin myself; the server rudely refused to take my waste, stating it wasn't their job. Was this a one-time incident? Unfortunately, no—I've experienced similar service on many of my visits.

As soon as I entered, I was greeted by an atmosphere of genuine warmth and hospitality. The staff enthusiastically said hello and thanked me for using my free cone coupon—without the usual grumpiness you might expect. There was upbeat music playing, and the team laughed and interacted like they were a group of high school friends who had opened a restaurant together. Despite the fun vibe, their professionalism was top-notch. Feeling at ease, I decided to stay and eat. The bowl was delicious, and I noticed that everyone who came through during that hour seemed to leave in a better mood. As I walked out, I wanted to share with strangers how great my lunch experience was! There are meals that are simply good, and then there are meals that make you smile and feel happy inside. Great addition to the silver spring in downtown! Now you can eat at Chipotle, Cava and Shophouse to complete the Trifecta lol. Who doesn't like rice, meat and vegetables? I personally think Shophouse offers a more balanced taste profile than the other two mentioned places. The proteins and sauces are great and the papaya chick and picking vegetables go well with every bowl.

Staff is friendly and helpful, and the ingredients are fresh and flavorful. They have great spicy hot options the green beans are so good!
