Ren's Ramen - Silver Spring

Ren's Ramen is my favorite. They have a simple menu, focusing on the Sapporo style ramen. I've been coming here since it opened at the current location in Wheaton. Ren's ramen bowls have a deep and layered flavor in its broth, with perfectly textured noodles; he gets his noodles from Japan and ages it himself.

Very unassuming spot nessled in between a Thai restaurant and a Chinese take out joint. The Sapporo style ramen is full of flavor and truly satisfying. The seasoned poached egg was particularly tasty and the Gyoza was an excellent appetizer.

The food is good but not great. Portions are somewhat small and toppings are very stingy. Expect to pay street parking unless you get lucky. Not likely to return.

The ramen is the best around here but you take what they bring you or Ren will ban you. In my case, I went back to get the eggs I paid for on two occasions and apparently that’s “complaining.”

Fantastic ramen. The best I have had outside of Japan.
