When we arrived, the doors opened and Michael escorted us in. He knew my name, took our coats, was delightful in a way that indicated we were good friends there for a beautiful evening. We had the best table in the house. The view was spectacular and the tasting menu divine. I don't drink so though I didn't get the paired wine Michael had nonalcoholic options for every course. And every course was sublime.
We spent one night in the Observatory on our trip through Northern Norway. What we did not expect, was to find a top notch restaurant there. It ist part of the main building of the Observatory located in the upper floor of the old barn building. There was a set menu but we were asked for any allergies or personal dislikes upfront. The chef explained every single course of the menue which was mainly from local sources but very creative. Also the accompanying wines were carefully selected and we had asked not to take the full set, but only a few of them not a problem. In total it was really a great experience, worth at least Michelin stars.
Where do i even start? A stunningly beautiful restaurant, with an amazing veiw that gives an intimate and welcoming feeling. 11 courses, and a beautiful variety of wine to go with the food. An exeptional sommelier, with an eye for detail, made the wine and food combo that is by far the best i’ve ever had. An absolute Michelin star worthy experience.
Food was on par with our expectations of fine dining. These guys opened the restaurant 3 years ago and are already a success. Worth coming to the area for this as well!
Excellent food wine. A bit pricey, but well worth a visit! Tip: Ask for a table near one of the big windows, the view is fabulous :
