I can’t think of another Michelin one star restaurant where our total bill was approximately US dollars 75 for the two of us. The wife and I shared a risotto with beans and sausage. It was fine. I then had a beef dish with mushrooms and my wife had a trout entrée. We each had some local wine by the glass which was surprisingly inexpensive, yet good. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service is decent. We stayed at the adjoining hotel, so it was easy to access the restaurant. I would say it was very reasonably priced given the Michelin one star rating. Price to quality ratio raises the rating by one star from 3 to 4.
We were sitting in the hotel garden enjoying drinks and I noticed the chef in the garden picking fresh herbs, that moment I knew the evening meal was going to be different. We looked at the menu with anticipation, I chose the Zuppa (soup) which was cream of pea with cod fish and olives and my wife had the home made ravioli with Swiss chard, ricotta cheese clams and lemon. Wow it was served beautifully by the waitress who explained every dish, the flavours were simply stunning. For desert we had cream pudding passion fruit meringue and peas, and local pudding vanilla hazelnut and amaretto. They also bought out some additional samples for us to try which were beautiful. The service was sensational and the restaurant is like sitting in an exclusive 18th century setting. Absolutely amazing considering this is just a small village off the main highway. We will be talking about this for a long time.
Returned to the restaurant after a year... at the entrance a mess of furniture and furnishing components placed at random, it looks like a modern antiques market. I pass through the hall and in the center, like in a supermarket, there is a fridge counter with food on display... the staff with gym sportswear with writing on the back...staff. the menu is offered on a sheet brought by the waiter like in a low cost restaurant in the South. At the checkout they don't have change to give if you pay in cash. .. this would be a restaurant of a certain level.. oh god.
