Château de Villa - Sierre

This was not the special experience that we had hoped for. This is seen as THE place for raclette in the region, and it was even not so easy to get a reservation for this place. The food in general was good, but it was the service that lacked the professionalism and quality I expected from a place like this. Most importantly, I was very surprised to see that one of the people preparing the raclette (which was done on the terrace) was working with bare hands and was scraping of the first bit of cheese with his fingers, on the customer’s plate! The raclette was a choice of 5 cheeses and only after a question, they came with a map of Switzerland to show where they came from. They promised to provide more explanation on the cheeses later, but never did. They also forgot the order of one of us and we had to remind them for our requested bottle of wine. No excuses made. At the dessert, we ended up getting the same dessert twice (once after we had already paid the bill) and also the coffee only came after we had requested and received the bill….

I can highly recommend the tasting of 5 different Raclette. It was really interesting to tast the different regions. The place was quite full and the staff had very much to do but it was a good service.

Wow. Oh wow. Oh wow. I’ve never had a meal like this. Raclette is like a shaved and melted cheese. Here it’s all from the valley, and paired with a local wine, the meal is heavenly. The pickles were also phenomenal This was fantastic food and environment. Highly recommend.

The scraper is incredibly efficient and kind

We were very well received at midday at the wine library of the Château de Villa. Nice tasting. Snacks.
