Nice Presentation of Cambodian Fare After a very hot day of visiting Angkor Wat and Ta Prohm Temple, it was a nice respite to dinate in Le Gout in Siem Reap. The decor is simple but welcoming. The food is well prepared, tasteful and beautifully presented. One of the (many) disadvantages of traveling with a group is that there are menus in almost every restaurant for lunch and dinner. Fortunately, the set menu in Le Gout has some elements that were not part of the fairly standard dishes we had in Cambodia restaurants. For example, the starter was a Brat-Rind-Tenderoin salad, served via paprika (capsicumpfeffer), cucumbers, tomatoes and bean spouts. The soup course was not the usual pumpkin dish, but a cream of tomato soup. In addition to the usual chicken for a main course there was a selection of fish served in a sweet-sour (and not excessively sweet, grateful) sauce. The dessert was a fried banana fritter with caramel sauce. All-in-all, Le Gout served a nice meal.
We tried Cambodia food, they are all good and taste. The facility is beautiful from the first floor with views of Stoueng Siem Reap.
The restaurant is located on the opposite side of the river, which is away from the tourist areas, but it has cheap drinks and food and the service was excellent.
Went to the restaurant with friends. Ordered our drinks and asked for the same food ordered as our friends. Our drinks came. Waited an hour. Our food never came. No one came out to check is we was ok. Staff stayed inside and was not bothered about us. We was the only customers they had. We was disappointed to say the least.
