Tufano's Vernon Park Tap - side

Too much vinegar on iceberg lettuce salad, and way too much garlic in the sauce! No birthday dessert even though we told them it was a birthday. Not sure who’s cooking the food but they’re definitely not Italian. Who serves calamari with cocktail sauce? Who puts vodka sauce on tortellini? Maybe Italian American at best. Not authentic by any means.

Tufanos is what I always thought a neighborhood Italian restaurant is like. Friendly greetings and service. Menu and specials posted on on chalkbosrd..no printed menus. Walk through the bar to dining area. Complimentary valet parking in a neighborhood with NO OTHER parking. Food was great! Prices reasonable. Takes no reservations. Accepts no credit cards.

If you’re not going to Tufano’s regularly, you’re not doing it right

Tufano's is a timeless classic. No pretense. Only great homestyle Italian food, warm service, and a truly Chicago atmosphere. Just remember to bring cash.

Historic local place. Cash only. Really busy after local sports games. Old school Italian.
