Contribuiți la feedbackNever again. I am so embarrassed that such a ?historical? restaurant such as Ernest?s would employ some of the most lackadaisical and uninterested people I have ever had to encounter. Sadly, I have felt more welcome at McDonalds than this place. Hostesses are melancholy and for a lack of a better term, lazy and unhappy. We walked in, walked up to the hostess area and weren?t greeted at all. They looked at us, we said we were going to just sit at the bar and walked rightin. No words exchanged except for one of them saying ?okay?. The only saving grace was the bar staff they were engaging and acted as if they were happy to have our business. We decided to just have crab claws and a salad?.both itemsthat should have been paired with bread. I asked four times for bread and was told it was coming?.it never came. We went outside (out back) where two employees were pulling loaves of bread out of the trunk of a car. I knew they had breadafter seeing that but I never got any. After we finished, we got up to leave walked by the two hostesses, they did not say goodnight, thank you, have a good evening, NOTHING. It was about to storm so my date went to get his truck. While waiting, I turned around to look inside and one of the hostesses was on her cell phone. Let me also add that my silverware was FILTHY. We spent (with tip) around $70 for crab claws, a dinner salad and three drinks. I cannot for thelife of me understand how a restaurant with the reputation that Ernest?s has, would allow such awful people to work for them. I could go on and on about how ?I work in customer service? and how we should be welcoming but it?s not evenabout that at this point it?s about simple human kindness?.Not to mention, the place was so filthy looking (ceiling tiles, etc) that the name John Taffer (sp) ran through my head. I will never return to Ernest?s again. So verydisappointed. 2Johns or Superior will now get my business and hard earned money.
After ALL the hype and over the moon excited to have a romantic dinner.....this would NOT be the case. Service was slow, 2 other tables were served, salads, drinks and entrees before we were served. Did I mention we were there before them? Plus we were NOT given a menu to order, we had to ask for a menu. Food was not up to par with all the hype we had experienced wanting and talking about going. The steak I was served was NOT what my husband ordered for me. It was smotheredin some sort of heavy sauce, drowning it! Staff appeared to not know very much what she was doing or what her position required. The saving grace for this experience was the piano player and singer. Magnificent job young man!! He kept usentertained while we waited 2 hours to even get out food. WE HAD A RESERVATION!! The other tables had ate, paid and left. And we stepped over to the most beautiful and kind ladies to wish them happy Birthday. We made new friends and haveplans to meet in the near future. So thank you for that!! So if you can take a hard pass on a romantic dinner here....you will wish you had listened. Over priced food, poor service.
A great place, Ernest has a great reputation in the area and it?s for a reason. Our waiter was an absolute doll, and he insisted several times there was no rush. Even accommodated the boyfriend in setting up flowers on the table for me for the date. It is on the pricier side for food around Shreveport and Bossier but absolutely worth it for the atmosphere and quality of it. It?s definitely a slower, relaxed service feel which I love (they?re not shoving you out the door). Alot of people are regulars so you may have to ask for a menu, but that was no issue either. It is also always recommended if you don?t see something you?d love to have to ask anyways because Ernest does go above and beyond for his customersand may be able to adjust/cook something you would love. A great place!
As soon as we walked into the doors at Ernest?s we felt very welcomed. The service here is accommodating and quick. The atmosphere felt quaint and romantic which was nice for an impromptu date night. The food was served hot and fresh, and was flavorful.
Found this place via OpenTable and was very impressed! Food was awesome, service had some much needed old school charm... you MUST try the Cafe San Pedro and one of the flaming desserts!
