Mid Brae Inn - Shetland Islands

After returning to Shetland for work after two years, I was excited to revisit this restaurant for my usual dinner on my day off. I was not disappointed, as the food was still great. The menu features simple yet tasty dishes. The staff may be busy, so patience is key, especially during the week. As a waiter and barman in a busy hotel, I have to give this place a perfect score of 10/10.

The hotel is separated into two areas - a pub/bar (restricted to those over 18) and a dining room. Our family of four was staying nearby and was too tired to drive to Lerwick. We did not have a reservation and initially thought the dining room was closed, but they opened it up for us and we had it all to ourselves that night. The food was excellent - they seem to have a busy takeaway service and now I understand why. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The staff was friendly and particularly kind to my 10-year-old.

Laid on especially for our group of 12 , a HUGE buffet breakfast, we did our best and failed to demolish it, thank you Diane

Popped in on the off chance as we were staying in Brae. Good choice range on the menu, friendly staff and the best hand cut chips I have had for years. Will definitely visit again
