I visited this restaurant earlier in the summer and was not impressed. The tempura was heavily battered and tasted like cornflakes. It was excessively greasy and unlike any tempura I have had before. The sushi was just okay.
You must try the salad rolls! They are very filling. I have tried a variety of sashimi, spring rolls, and california rolls here and I have not been disappointed. Everything is always very fresh. The owners are friendly and helpful in explaining the menu if you are unsure of what to order. They have a location on Victoria Trail near 137 ave. in Edmonton, which I believe is part of the same chain. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Edmonton.
I really enjoy this restaurant a lot. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the service is friendly and excellent. Compared to other sushi places in the Edmonton area, I would say this location is above average. They offer a variety of traditional sushi dishes as well as some unique twists of their own, and the presentation is always appealing. I have tried many items on their menu and have yet to be disappointed - everything has been delicious. I even find their tea to be better than what I have had at other sushi restaurants. The restaurant is small and seems to be family-owned, but the care and attention they put into their food is evident. We keep coming back because we love the food and the staff. Miki Sushi has two locations, one in Sherwood Park and one on Victoria Trail in Edmonton. While I enjoy the Sherwood Park location, I believe the Edmonton location is even better and a true hidden gem. Both locations are definitely worth a visit.
While shopping in the area, my Husband and I stopped in for sushi at Miki in Sherwood Park. We were greeted and seated immediately (being the only sit-down customers in the restaurant). There were plenty of take out orders while we had our meal. We ordered the Chicken Spicy Roll, Shrimp Spicy Roll, Cucumber Maki, Japanese Crabstick Roll, Vegetable Futomaki and Green onion cakes. Everything tasted fresh and flavourful. The mayo/sriracha dip for the green onion cakes was addicting and not overly-spicy. It was even good on some of the rolls. Our only regrets were that our stomachs couldn't hold more delicious sushi and that we didn't see the board with extras on the wall before we put in our order. We will be back to try new things next time!
