The White Lion - Sheffield

The best pub in the city. excellent choice of beer. all kept on a high standard and served by some great bar staff. john and mandy are perfect hosts. clientele is eclectic and all get on. music is usually second, not with playlists that they will never hear in another pub. bands are usually great and occasionally gets a real coup with some excellent and for those of an architect. a great building from the 1700s. when I die, I will be stuffed and spread the bar for eternality.

What a lovely pub. I was pleasantly surprised from inside. good atmosphere great bar staff and good beer.

What a place! traditional pub? yes. traditional crafts and real ale? yes. interesting and friendly staff? yes. kick ass live music? damn how black sail the lions play!

I moved to Sheffield about 1974; The White Lion instantly became one of my favourite pubs for the friendly staff and customers (local and visitors, young and old), the well-kept selection of drinks. These days I don't drink, any chance of a pot of tea in the evenings? I also enjoy the varied music scene, not least having played there myself I find the audience uplifting and receptive. Architecturally it is one of Sheffield's gems, inside and out. It is always kept clean including the gents and is a model for other establishments.

Excellent range of beers, really impressive traditional style pub that you rarely see nowadays. A great team behind the bar. A must visit.
