Everything was going wonderfully until the bartender overheard us discussing model trains and compared me to Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory. For the record, I find model trains incredibly fascinating and thrilling. My evenings are spent calculating railway timetables for a model of the Hill and Barnsley Railway branch line, complete with a realistic signalling system. While others may prefer events like Les Mis in the West End or Taylor Swift concerts, nothing beats a Saturday evening for me. Even my ex-girlfriend can attest to my passion for model trains.
I made a reservation for 8 family members at this restaurant (no children) after attending a nearby funeral. We arrived early and found the doors closed, but a kind lady who I think was the owner (I should have asked) saw us waiting in the rain and let us in. We used to dine here many years ago before it became a hotel, and it was nice to see the changes while still preserving the original charm. The service was excellent and the food was fantastic! Our order was taken promptly and all 8 meals were served at the same time. The dishes were not kept warm or overcooked, and everything was delicious. The portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable. We will definitely return for a happier occasion.
For the mother's lunch. menu had a series of options from traditional Sunday dinners to usual pub classics to many diners. the food was served in a timely manner by attentive staff who tried to ensure an unforgettable visit. beef, lamb and pork. to perfection. yorkshire puddings the size of the elephant feet! had the cursor menu, the good portioning, starter and puddings had very good to finish with a coffee. both waitresses are very friendly and attentive (sorry I don't remember their names while I leave this review). nice to see this pub again, which produces great meals. will be back soon.
We came today as a party to Mother's Day Sunday lunch. the first thing I noticed was the beautiful relaxed atmosphere, although it was pretty busy. we sat and served quickly and efficiently, we didn't have to be taken for drinks that. order was taken and delivered to the table. the food was nice, not massive portions, but it didn't have to be, it was so delicious and well presented. desserts were delicious, the chocolate fond was still warm from the ofen! well made for a successful day!
We visited today and ordered a Sunday dinner and burger. the food took a long time to come and when it did, only a burger and Sunday dinner appeared. that was about minutes after the order. I asked where my burger was and. the waitress said it was another minute. when the others had halved their meal, I asked myself again where my burger was and was said it was a because, as it takes to cook a past. they should have advised us that there was a problem as family we could have decided to share our meal between us, or I could have brought something else, as I had to watch them eating and they had finished their meal and I had to wait one, at least half an hour until my burger finally arrived. eating was ok, but nothing special and it was quite expensive for quality. everyone can make a mistake, but their handling has made the situation for all of us much worse. they did not load on the late burger and I ordered another drink while I waited for what we rejected to pay because it was due to their mistake that I needed it. I do not think we will go back because there are many other places to be better with better service.
