Delices Des Vents - Shawinigan

This is a very charming place, very cosy, with great service and good food with original flavours. We took a table d'hôte, and were very surprised by the quality of everything.

This was the best restaurant we visited out of the many during our 2 week tour of Québec province. It seemed to be mainly frequented by locals, which is usually a good recommendation. The service was friendly and efficient without being intrusive, and the food wasexcellent. The creme brulée with blue cheese starter was delicious; the steak was cooked to perfection and the cheesecake was gorgeous. Great food and wine - much better than in the touristy restaurants in Québec City and Montréal - and at a very reasonable price! We loved it!

The Casse-croute is normally a small stand or a small restaurant where you can eat fast food in Québec. This Restaurant Boreal is a small restaurant where the quality of the food, the quantity as well as the prices matches perfectly. They have a kind of "Haute cuisine" in a small traditional restaurant. The atmosphere is fantastic: only people from Québec are there, no tourists. Probably also because Grand-Mère is not so touristical and the restaurant is not in the city-cetntre.Anyway it was really full of people. Everybody wanted to have contact with us there: they found us interesting because it's a hidden gem where tourists never arrive. With spoke with half of the people having dinner there, we took pictures, ect. We had a real nice time.About the food: as I wrote it's a kind of "high cuisine" with a lot of immagination. For example I had as a starter a crème-brulée made with blue cheese. A new taste for me! The meat was also very nice.. and the desserts are so nice! Don't miss "la tarte à sucre" typical from québec.The service is made by a lady wich is very shy but keep on smiling all the time: so spontaneous and a sincere smile! She probably found us interestîng and funny too! I really like spontaneous people and not the typical service where they smile at you just for the tip at the end!The prices: such a cheap dinner for such a good quality.. it's impossible to find anywhere else!Location: when you leave the motorway in Grand-Mère, instead of going direction city-centre, go direction Parc de la Mauricie for about 3Km. It's on the left side. Parking: just in front of the restaurant.If you are visiting the National park de la Mauricie.... DON'T MISS IT!!!
