Contribuiți la feedbackMy problem with maya is not about the vegan food I think is simply good (not amazing, but not bad at all, and I am grateful for all choices.) also my problem about the great owner and his sweet and lovely daughters that make it really pleasant. my problem is with the strange and really unpleasant service that we have experienced when we try to sort our bill, which never wanted me to withdraw from compulsive shame and feeling as if we were somehow dirty. my friend had a day party here for which a total of 8 of us were present. a person went early, but paid her share in the bill and left the printed prove that she did. at the end we sorted the aggregate bill that we received as a group, which led us to pay a total of about 100 rmb more than the amount on the bill, based on some of us round. we were then told by a server that we still owed 152 rmb. No one could explain. we asked what was not paid for, and they said they didn't know. we went several times about the bill and our mathematics, and we couldn't find a mistake. the server did not say to worry about it and that he did please us one by giving us a 152 rmb rabate, but still insisted that we were responsible for this incident, and that it was our “mistake”. that seemed to be really withdrawn. all went, but two of us stayed back to sort it. this time we talked to an additional server, and none of them could explain what the additional 152 was responsible for. they insisted that it is our responsibility, but they did a “proportion” to us, and let us know again about our fault. we tried to work it out ourselves, and we wished we would ask everyone for separate bills. we had no proof of this 152 rmb that was short, except the words that come out of the mouth of the server. the male server even claimed to explain to us that he reduced the bill for us that it “because they don’t want to pay the 152...”. we had enough and then offered to pay the difference we had met again with the fact that he made us a “proportion” and already reduced and closed the bill. we felt bad as if we had done something wrong, although we did everything we could do to sort it. too many bad feelings were ready for me to come back. ps: when I went into the dining room, was a box that should be covered, open on the floor that I broke, cut my big open and bleed a bundle.
Maya's Green Menu is fantastic! They offer a deal for 168rmb that is definitely worth it. I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious vegan options available at this non-vegan restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, and the Swedish owner and staff are wonderful. The menu allows you to choose 1 drink, 1 appetizer, 1 main course, 2 sides, and a dessert. It's a great place to dine with both vegan and non-vegan friends. I highly recommend trying the virgin avocado margarita - it's delicious! Overall, I was very impressed with everything I tried here. The addition of a vegan menu in a non-vegan restaurant is a great step towards offering plant-based alternatives. I'm glad to see Miguel back at the helm and Maya running smoothly again. Despite some recent negative reviews, my experience was nothing short of excellent. This restaurant has become a favorite among my friends, including a vegan chef. Miguel is a genuinely nice owner, the staff are attentive, and the overall atmosphere is fantastic, even during busy times. Highly recommended.
I am not sure where all the good reviews for this restaurant are coming from, but I was very disappointed with my experience. The first thing that caught my eye was the dirty furniture, with chairs and sofas covered in oily spots. Almost everything we tried was flavorless and unappetizing. The grilled Portobello salad was overly sour, with only one mushroom in the entire salad and it was not fresh. The mushroom tortilla was tiny and lacked flavor. The burrito did not have the promised fillings. The orange juice seemed to be fermenting or made from spoiled red oranges. Even my friends who didn't try vegan dishes found their meals disgusting. The chefs seem to use canned products in every dish, yet the prices are still high. The only thing we enjoyed was the chocolate ice cream.
Delicious Mexican cuisine, great drinks, also non-dairy eis. ask for the green menu! often very quiet to midday (and not so many offers) in the evening busty!
Maya was already one of my favorite spots in Shanghai before going vegan and I’m happy to say that the vegan options are just as good. Be sure to ask for the vegan menu!
