Contribuiți la feedbackI went to Ireland and didn't go to Blarney Castle. So that was a special stop for me. You have it now in a plaza right in front of Main Street. Definitely stop seeing it or kissing what's usual. As they say, you will never be a loss for words after you do this.

An alleged fragment of Blarney Castle, which was taken to Texas in 1959, stands here in a theft protection cylinder, lacquered solid green. Right? Wrong? Someone made the trip to Ireland and earned the gift from Gabe? I have no idea. What to kiss the Blarney stone, I have not made any physical contact. I kissed it because we don't do such things in 2021. There is an official State Historical Marker. It reads, Early Area settler George Nickel and his wife, Dora (Haggard), raised her family in a dugout house in Wheeler County. For his Irish heritage and for his symbolism of happiness and courage, George beat Shamrock for a post office approved for her home in 1890. The name was received when the town of Shamrock along the Rock Island Railroad, which was built in 1902 by the district. Shamrock bandmaster Glenn A. Truax introduced himself to the city, which on its Irish name capital, by a one-day celebration of attracting thousands of visitors to the Irish city. With the help of the Shamrock Boosters Club, the first St. Patrick's Day Festival was celebrated in 1938, linking the local celebration with the festive day of the patron saint of Ireland. The first observation included such free attractions as a parade, street dance, matinees at Liberty and Texas theatres, a massive band concert of five hundred pieces from twelve cities and historical and dramatic presentations that attracted about 12,000 people to a city of less than 4,000. In the following year, participation reached 30,000, with parade viewers on streets and roofs of the city centre. The annual event lasted until it was exposed during the Second World War and again during the Korean War. The Chamber of Commerce took sponsorship in 1952. Shamrock 's St. Patrick's Day celebration has welcomed many state and national figures in politics, sports, music and entertainment. It has developed into a multi-day affair, has maintained many original activities and has added several others that have become an annual tradition and an important part of the economy. In 2013, the Texas Legislature House Concurrent Resolution 83 passed and announced Shamrock's celebration of the official St. Patrick's Day celebration for the state of Texas. Be sure and check google maps... it's at a new location in the middle of town. This is one of those things you just need to see if your in Shamrock, TX. Quirky, but fun and it's now in a little setting all of it's own.
