However, we were quite hungry and decided to try it out. I'm glad we did, as we had a lovely dinner. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a beautiful evening. The food was outstanding, and the menu offered a great variety. The service was exceptional!"
ACTUALLY VISITED JUNE 2019. However, my review was sitting in DRAFTS rather than being posted. My mistake, I guess, but since I took the time to write a review after visiting, I wanted to post it anyway. Here is what I wrote at the time of my visit: We were seated by the window and had a superb view to enjoy as we ate. Our food here was a “step above” and the service here was really good, too. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This is on the grounds of the Seward Windsong Lodge but you could stop here for a meal even if you were not staying here. There is a parking lot between the restaurant and some of the lodges there. The menu for lunch or supper had about 4 sandwich choices and about 4 or 5 entrees. We had the Smoked Salmon BLT on toast and enjoyed it very much. It came with fries or you could substitute sweet potato fries for an extra charge. If you are not overly hungry, I would say you could share that meal and maybe add a bowl of soup or dessert if needed. We felt welcomed and well treated here.
We came here as a group and had reservations. No waiting. Had the braised chicken with Brussels Sprouts. Delicious. We brought our own bottle of wine. Corking fee was $25 but worth it since we had brought wine sling on the trip for pairing food.
My first experience with the breakfast buffet was fantastic, offering just the right variety for my taste. However, my second visit was quite disappointing. When I arrived and informed the host that I would like the breakfast buffet, it would have been the perfect opportunity for them to inform me that it ended at 9 AM. Unfortunately, I only found out about the time limit after I had already gotten my food. Had I known earlier, I would have chosen differently. The selection on the buffet was limited, and when I went back for more, everything except the muffins had been cleared away. I asked if they could bring out anything else, but I was told no. The sign on the door clearly stated that breakfast was available from 6 AM to 11 AM, so it was confusing why the buffet would end two hours early. It seems odd to me that a breakfast buffet wouldn't be available during the full advertised hours.
Extremely crowded and overpriced! We arrived around 7 PM and were told there would be a one-hour wait, so we decided to head to the bar, which was just as packed. Fortunately, a kind gentleman gave up his seat for one of us, and we managed to squeeze in another chair. We ordered two Cadillac margaritas, which were enjoyable, but we were shocked to see the bill—$30 each! It was $20 for the margarita and an additional $10 for the Grand Marnier. Absolutely ridiculous! The bartender was nice, but he should have informed us about the extra charge. The beet salad was nothing special. The place was overflowing with tourists. We recommend skipping this spot and going to the "Salmon Bake" instead!
