Olimpo - SERRARA FONTANA

We are vacationing on Ischia staying with friends. They have been coming to Olimpo for years I understand why! Food was simple, yet delicious! I had the Papardelle with mushrooms which was delicious, prices are very reasonable! Definitely worth a try!

Food at Olimpo, a family owned and run restaurant, is down to earth. It is in the hinterland of Ischia beyond Serrara. The Iacono family produces their own wine and offers home made pasta, delicious sauces, grilled vegetables, and the main dish rabbit. Pizza from the firewood oven. Lovely place, friendly personal service.

Olimpo offer a cooking course via ischiareview.com. We had a great time, views are fantastic, breathtaking, i.e. really good. We were picked up from Fontana and driven to the restaurant. Staff are very friendly. According to their website they are 600m, 8mins walk from the nearest bus stop. I love the public transport on Ischia; however unless you are local my experience has been bus stops aren't numbered or named, timetable doesn't list all stops and quite often it's a case of over-shooting and catching a bus back or vice-versa or walking a stop or two until you know better. Olimpo need to post a map of the exact bus-stop, bus numbers and an exact walking route to the restaurant on their website. i.e. idiot proof for tourists. We had lunch there, tradtional Ischian which we'd never eaten before. I really wanted to pop back for an evening meal, but a combination of running out of time and not knowing exactly which bus stop and where to walk put us off. We will eat there next time we visit the island. Lovely restaurant, lovely staff, lovely experience. Well worth a visit, we can't wait to visit again
