I honestly don't understand the positive reviews. I live around the area and I am German, so I wanted to give this place a fair try several times. I was happy when I heard that a German cafe/restaurant exists in my neighborhood. Well first as a German, I have to say the food and also the bread is not that great. It's basic, it's average and nothing to rave avout. Second, and this is where I am mostly disappointed, the horrendous service. Every time I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt and went again, every time, the service was rude, ignorant and they don't seem to know the menu well. Once I asked if the vegan sandwich contains onions, they said no, I ordered it and well.. it was actually full with onions (in the chickpea mixture), I couldn't eat it. The last chance I gave them was, when I went there in the morning time, I wanted to order the Muesli which apparently is possible to get with soy milk. Well,... I arrived, was ignored and almost run over by the staff (keep in mind it was not that busy since it was still early morning), the first staff said I can order the muesli with soy and then rushed away without taking my actual order, the second staff first ignored me for quite a while and then said no we don't have soy milk I looked at her and said your collegue just told me that I can order the muesli with soy milk she gave me an annoyed look and said no soy milk I looked at her, walked out of there and told myself this is the last time I went to that place, I'm done It seems like people are just fooled by the popularity of this place and automatically think that it must be good... even if a place is popular nowadays, it doesn't have to reflect quality. And a place with bad service, should not be supported no matter the popularity Updated from previous review on 2021-05-06
Whenever I go to Itaewon, I stop by this place to get my Rye bread as I couldn't find a proper one elsewhere. I have had other breads too, but I like Rye the best. I haven't tasted the dishes yet, but it seems the restaurant does pretty good business considering that most of the tables were filled during my visits.
There is one vegan option and a lot of vegan bread but the soup contains chicken. I would recommend to buy a loaf of bread (you can try different kinds before buying it) and take it home with you. The staff was very friendly and knew which options were vegan or vegetarian.
This place always has a line on the weekends. It has an extensive menu with lots of food options. They are one of the few places to get good vegan bread. But, it is more expensive than most places and they are NOT very pet-friendly. They do have a small patio on the front, but it is hard to get a seat if you have a dog.
