Contribuiți la feedbackThe only two best parts about this place are the cheap price and the location convenient and easy accessibility. The staffs were friendly and polite. My friend and I got the all female bunk bed room, but even so there were a lot of men living on the same floor, and most of them would simply go to the bathroom/shower room wrapped only in towel for the bottom half of their bodies. This made me feel a little uncomfortable. The bathroom also constantly reeked of smoke even though it's supposed to be no smoking. My biggest complaint would be their bathroom because the toilet paper was constantly out. There are so many people living on the same floor, so it's inevitable that the toilet paper gets used up so fast, but no one is there to refill it even in the morning and no one knows when it will get refilled again. The water pressure at the shower room also leaves much to be desired, but overall still not too bad. The bed was quite clean, although my friend had stains on her bed sheets and she said her blanket made her skin feel quite itchy, and the bed frame was a bit squeaky. The main entrance to the floor was also incredibly squeaky so whenever someone enters the floor I could hear the door squeak from my room. There is also no AC in the room, just fan and a centralized AC system outside, but the room didn't feel too hot. Also note that their lockers are not equipped with any locks, so you're advised to bring your own to protect your valuables. I would not necessarily mind staying there again but for the price point, it is indeed a very budget and minimalistic place with bare offerings.
PODs was a great hostel and place to stay while in KL. Although it is a bit outside the gentrified part (near Petronas), the location is amazing for a great cultural and culinary experience in Brickfields (Little India). The cafe downstairs provides a great work environment, one the best Wifi speeds I have experienced in all of South East Asia. Amazing hospitality and front desk. Stayed in a 16 bedroom my first night, and a 2 bedroom pod my remaining nights. If you like a bit more privacy, I would recommend bumping up to a more private room. Amazing experience overall, would highly recommend.
Prices may be as regular as other hostels. The location of this hostel is quite strategic and close to KL Central. Easy access to Mamak restaurant, Speed mart, Post Office and Mosque. However, there is a water pressure problem and it is disturbing. Need to improve on maintenance work. One of the female staff was also unfriendly. Quite annoying and apparently she doesn’t like working as a front desk. Other things like warning notices with threatening words everywhere in the hostel are also unnecessary. Perhaps, those who create the rules should think of the best words to use as a reminder to guests.
Stayed in the four person dorm room with a couple friends. The room didn't have windows and was quite small. No more than two people can be moving around at once, and even then you are still bumping into each other. The room seemed to go from way too hot to freezing and back again every night. Be sure to bring a towel as well, as one is not provided. The staff were nice, and they were usually available at the front desk if needed. The biggest issue with this place was the bathrooms. There were two toilets shared between probably 40 people, and I don't think it was cleaned more than once a day. This meant the toilet paper ran out constantly. More than once we had to deal with no toilet paper. I had to go down to get replacements myself. Best part about this place was the location. It was right near the mall with access to the KU Sentral station, so it was very easy to get around the city from here. There is a 7-11 across the street for easy access to anything you might need. It also has a roof top, which was nice for socializing as well. Part of it is covered so it's enjoyable even if it rains.
The rooms/toilets are exactly as advertised so it's pretty good value for money. It's quieter than many other hostels in SEA. The staff is so welcoming- the receptionist even invited me to go with her to a free salsa dancing class. Location is out of the golden triangle but convenient to Sentral/public transportation.
