We found Tangerine Thai and as we were looking at the menu in the window, a couple was exiting and mentioned to us how yummy the food was. Sold. We were the only ones dining in half an hour before closing on a Friday night. We ordered the BBQ chicken, the Steak Salad and Pumpkin Curry with sticky rice. Everything came out in a timely matter and service was excellent. However, food just seemed to be A-OK. Of all our dishes I enjoyed the pumpkin curry the most, with its huge chunks of pumpkin within the sauce! That's what mostly sold it for me. It was a good dish, with lots of coconut and pumpkin flavor, and would recommend ordering it. However, the BBQ chicken was overcooked, hence dry. Portion was large and the side of a sour-sweet dipping sauce was nice with the chicken, but wished the chicken had been moist and juicy. Steak salad had yummy veggies and the garlic-y dipping sauce was fantastic, but shouldn't the steak be the winner here? Sadly, it needed a little more grill on the cook, as the texture was slightly undercooked and hard to chew. Not a bad place for Thai food, and cool that it's a neighborhood eatery with a close proximity to my favorite place, the zoo! But, the food just had some minor issues. Had the dishes been perfectly cooked, our dining experience here would've been better. The menu offers a lot of dishes that most Thai restaurants don't, so I would come back for a second try.
Cockroaches... When our food arrived, I saw a cockroach crawl up from under the table top. Then, another crawling on the wall. When I opened my sticky rice, 2 more cockroaches were crawling in it. We left immediately.
This place is honestly awesome. Fantastic food, and they offer a 5% discount if you pay cash. We'll definitely be back.
Delicious and great value. We are vegetarians and there was tons of tasty options available.
Very nice little local spot, right down the street from the zoo on Phinney Ridge. Foods always filling and tasty, and the prices are honestly not too bad either. Getting a pad Thai or See Ew to go usually runs me 11$ with tax. Staff are friendly, and can deliver too for no extra fee.
