India Express - Seattle

This restaurant is now under new management and has revamped its menu with some exciting new dishes. As someone visiting Seattle from Chicago, I had a serious craving for desi food, and after sampling numerous desi restaurants near the university and downtown, I can confidently say this place serves the best biryani and chicken tikka in Seattle. Their paratha and chai are the perfect finishing touches. If you’re in the mood for authentic, spicy Pakistani food, this is a must-visit!

On August 4, 2019, I had a late-night dinner with a friend. I ordered the vegetarian paneer biryani for $12. The cashier was friendly, but there was a delay with my order due to some confusion. As compensation, we were given complimentary drinks. The food had a different flavor compared to what you might find at a typical Indian restaurant, although there is definitely room for improvement. The portion size was generous. I also tried the vegetarian samosa, which was good and appeared to be freshly made.

This restaurant is fantastic! I can't believe I've lived on the hill for so long without discovering it. The food is exquisitely prepared and incredibly fresh, and the service is warm and welcoming. It’s a family-owned establishment, and the atmosphere is simply delightful. I highly recommend checking it out; it’s a true gem.

Good food and customer service. A bit tight space for sitting. Kids high chairs are available. Washrooms were clean and well maintained. Tandoori Chicken was really tasty but rest of the food like kebabs and naans were good too. Only downside is non availability of dedicated parking so you have to find parking on the road which is paid parking except Sunday.

A 3 year old with an iPad could tell you that cap hills abundance of Indian buffets means there will inevitably be winners and losers, and while New India Express is no culinary winner, it makes up for any shortcoming with exceptional service. The owner is a sweet lady who always remembers you and sees to your meal with a conversation beyond pleasantries. The food is good, and the price is right. The decor is a really quite tasteful, and having been around for quite some time, this restaurant knows what it's doing.
