German Stammtisch - Seaside

Enjoyable evening with friends and family. I had the daily special, German style meatloaf, very tasty with a nice gravy. We found the staff courteous and entertaining.

Erwin is incredibly rude and pretentious. We are German and hoped to have a nice traditional meal here while visiting on vacation. Unfortunately we were greeted rudely at the door by Erwin. There were only two tables occupied and plenty of seating but we were told we needed a reservation. I find this unlikely since the restaurant closed in 45 minutes and highly doubtful that 20 people were about to show up. He didn’t even explain anything to us or apologize that we couldn’t be served or ask us to come back another time. There isn’t any posting that reservations are required. Their little restaurant is in a strip mall next to a laundromat underneath an apartment building, not in an upscale area at all. As it turned out we had a lovely delicious meal in Monterey and didn’t have to suffer food poisoning from an over priced hot dog vendor. Save yourself some money and stay away from here.

Yum! We got takeout when we saw that reservations were necessary and we didn’t have one. Owner was very kind!
