Ocean Trail - Scottsdale

Wife and I went to Talking Stick to try our luck and have a nice dinner.We were Pleasantly surprised to have found a seafood restaurant called Ocean Trail.We had seen it before but never tried to eat line was always very long. Small place w/ bar not a lot of seating.We walked over and Perfect timing NO Line.Donelle greeted us and we sat the bar.We told her we had never eaten here.She started us off by giving us 3 samples of their sauces.Glad she did. Great Service. Donelle was Amazing!She had told us the meals were Very Large. They were.Ordered the Gumbo Combo w/ Dirty Rice. #2 Heat.Surprising it was Hot! I loved it glad I did not go for the 4 that I was intending. Wife thought it was toooo hot.Donelle had suggested a 0 or a 1. But I did not listen.We also had a Caeser's Salad w/ Lump Crab Meat. Awesome.Bread came w/ the meal. Sourdough rolls fresh hot. MMMMMDefinitely will go back. Next time we will try a dish they call a roast w/ tomato-based sauce seafood.I give it a 4 on a 1-5 Scale. Donelle was a 5.

Good gumbo is hard to find and this place falls short of the mark for gumbo. I much prefer High Tide Seafood. As for the atmosphere, it is very small and two feet from the primary flow of walking traffic. Feels more like a food court than a restaurant.

If nothing else, it is worth stopping by for dessert! They serve a chocolate caramel creation that can only be described as a giant delicious chocolate truffle filled with gooey delicious caramel! The appetizers are pretty good too! Try the Oyster shooter and the shrimp cocktail served with Colossal Shrimp! The dinner food was very good. It is definitely Louisiana style! The Crab Gumbo was overflowing with tasty crab meat! The staff are friendly enough, but maybe a little distracted. It was hard to get their attention. The atmosphere was so-so only because of the casino and it feels like a food court. But, definitely not food court food!

Ocean trail’s menu is a mix of toe things: Spanish Paella and a Louisiana gumbo;Delicious, creamy, yet spicy; recommend spicy lever 3 if you are not used to spicy food; large portion for each order. Limited seating at the casino corner.

Technically a 4.5 stars. Post Valentines Day dinner. We typically drive to Vegas for a pan roast and found this place. The -1/2 star is for the pan roast, I think it’s tastier and richer with a lobster bisque base rather than a tomato base. We also tried a few appetizers that were delicious and hit the spot! The crab meat cocktail was fresh and the creamy sauce was delicious! The smoked seafood cheddar dip was amazing!!! Our server was attentive and courteous. We had a great first time experience. We will definitely return. (Chef: offer a lobster bisque base option for the pan roast please ;
