Happy Rancho - Schleswig

Don't let the cheesy name fool you, the food here is excellent and the atmosphere quaint. Located down the cobblestone street from St Petri Dom, Happy Rancho serves perfectly grilled Holstein rib eyes. Our waitress, Amina (I doubt I spelled it right, hope she will forgive...me) was from Bosnia and a charming young lady. As a bonus, she introduced us to Julischka, a Croatian plum/pear liqueur that is sweet to the taste buds and warm to the body. An excellent choice for an evening out. Note: Parking can be a challenge in this area take a left just past the restaurant and follow the cobblestone street around the curve to find some parking at the end of the road before you hit the rathaus square.

We stopped off here for lunch on a long journey and found it excellent value and very efficient service. The schnitzel was especially good and the accompanying local beer was very refreshing.

Everything was really good, we ordered 6 different dishes and everyone was really pleased. The meat was cooked exactly like we ordered it. Really yummy side dishes and sauces. The only dissappointment was the rösti, which wasn 't 'home-made '.

Beautiful, inconspicuous service, very tasty eating (especially the pommes are the hit), good meat and great sauces. Price/quality ratio complete in order!
