El Gringo's - Scarborough

Came to this restaurant for a change as we had never been to EL GRINGOS before but we'll definitely be back the next time we are in Scarborough, really nice food, brilliant service ,lovely decor too,also fairly priced .

Do not be decieved by small frontage and few tables you see from window as this place has lots of tables out the back so go in and ask as they cater for walk-ins but is popular with locals so gets booked up fri/sat nights after 7..Attentive staff who hover a bit and took plates before finished chewing last mouthful but they young so let it slide. Nice cocktails. Good portion sizes, tasty authentic food and competativly priced. Would go again next time in the area and would reccommend. We had an early dinner (pre 6pm) so they accommodated us as walk-in. Swift service, Good vibe.

Very happy to see a Mexican restaurant opening in central Scarborough and always want to support local restaurants. Slightly concerned by the negative reviews but our experience was nothing but positive. Choice of seat, quickly served a drink and the food order took within 10 minutes. There was a very large table ordering ahead of us and we thought we’d have a long wait for food but that was not the case. The staff are attentive, hard working and friendly. The food is solid Mexican food and for me the portion size right. It’s one of the only Mexican restaurants I’ve been to which got the chicken fajita filling ratio to tortilla spot on. Will definitely go back as it fitted the bill of what I want when I visit a Mexican.

I have lived around the corner from El Gringo’s for over a year and have only ever seen it closed up with or without staff inside. There is no visible menu only a chalkboard with cocktails on it viewable from outside. I went in to ask the 3 ladies lined up behind the bar if there was a menu and did they serve food? The “lady in charge “ asked me if they looked like a furniture shop. At that point I decided my family would spend its £500 round the corner again at Askims Mediterranean restaurant.

The restaurant offers outstanding service and delicious food in a traditional Mexican-style setting. The enchiladas are perfect, the staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable.
