Lotus Garden - Scarborough

Very delicious Indian Chinese here. Try the roasted rice, the dry chilli chicken and the Hakka-Khowmein. Do not forget the chili oil and chili vinegar!

The food at this restaurant was excellent, and the children enjoyed it as well. It was not greasy or heavy. We ordered chicken chili, which is my usual favorite and was very good, and chicken pasta, which was beautifully presented as an appetizer. We also tried the Thai chicken, which was good, and the beef chow mein, which was great. All main dishes come with a side of rice. The seating area is small, so it's best to make a reservation in the evening when it's busy. My friend likes the corn soup, but I prefer hot and sour soup, which I usually only eat at one place - but I will have to try it here as well. The portions were generous. The only downside is that dining in can be slow, so it's better to get takeout, which is usually ready within 45 minutes.

Came here from Amherst, NY because I wanted to satisfy my Hakka Chinese desire and all Rave reviews I read on TripAdvisor... We were disappointed! We ordered Manchurian chicken and crispy beef. I've never had crispy beef before, but thought I'd try because... because of the reviews. The chicken was ok but strong with sodium (too much soy sauce and very dark in color compared to Manchurian chicken from Lucky's Chinese, which is usually reddish. The crispy beef was disgusting, I couldn't say what I had eaten, it wasn't even soft in the middle and very dark in the color too. It could have been crispy duck legs super deep fried, so crispy it was. Never again will I try the court. I wouldn't recommend this place and it's really just a hole in the wall in Scarborough on Danforth. I'm glad I treated myself and my daughter three years old.

I have to be disappointed by Lotus Garden. The Hakka is right. I always get everything fresh. If your fan of Hakka then you will enjoy. Try the crispy beef, and a must is the shrimp ball. You're... big and nothing I've ever tried. Enjoy!

Great little restaurant and not overpriced. The food is delicious but be aware that the restaurant always feels cold and sometimes the service is slow. We ate there recently (January) and see that the second storm door is missing so every time the door opens...the cold air floods into the restaurant. A quick remedy of replacing the door or installing some space heaters would fix this problem. Otherwise, we really enjoy the meals there.
