Sand Castle - Sayville

I absolutely love it here and always find myself wanting to return. Everything about this place is just perfect. The waitstaff is wonderful—they're kind, friendly, and engaging without being overwhelming. The bartenders provide great entertainment when you sit at the bar as well. Most importantly, the food is fantastic! I really enjoy the menu, and they are gluten-free friendly, offering gluten-free rolls for the lobster roll. I won't even say how many I've had this summer or their cost, but between my friends and me, we've tried the entire menu, and everything has been delicious with no disappointments. Lastly, the espresso martini is top-notch, no matter which bartender makes it.

My husband and I visit this restaurant every year during our day trip to Fire Island. It’s a relaxed eatery located right on the beach in Cherry Grove. The food is excellent, and the service is both friendly and attentive.

I might have visited on a busy day, but the restaurant was crowded, so I decided to dine there. The oysters were quite small, and the cocktail sauce lacked any real flavor—more like ketchup with just a hint of horseradish. At over $30 for a dozen, I was left feeling disappointed. I also ordered the fish and chips; while the chips were delicious, the fish could have been better. It started off crispy but quickly turned slimy. In hindsight, I wish I had ordered the burger, as it looked really tempting.

This is actually one of the best meals I had in a few years. A chief friend of mine once said that there is a reverse relationship between the quality of view and the quality of food. I found that this is usually true, but not here. Outdoors with magnificent sea views we enjoy a truly spectacular meal. The food is absolutely amazing. The lemon pasta was the best pasta I had in about 5 years! The short ribs were wonderful. The lava cake was probably the best I ever had. Our server Teddy was fantastic. It is so rare to have food of this quality, and almost impossible to find with a look like this. Congratulations to Chef Noelle Grant. Simple, wow!!!

I was really disappointed by the dinner last week. The service was fine but my friend ordered the steamers which she couldn?t finish because they were so sandy. I had the Lemon shrimp which was really bad-Completely over salted. $35. Too bad because I like the location and the waiters are friendly.
