I have been a patron of the Pirate House for many years. I was very disappointed by the limited selection on your current menu. We wanted scallops and shrimps, but they said you couldn't get scallops. I thought it was weird because we could get Scallops in another restaurant. So we both ordered the grilled shrimp and crab cake. The vegetables were cold and the shrimps were boiled over.
It was very busy because it was the weekend before St. Patrick's Day and there were many things in the city. I made a reservation, but we were early, I checked in and was told that they would write me if a table was available. We have our table about 45 minutes before our reservation. Although they were busy, the service was great. Our server ran around like crazy, but we were very careful. The food was good, but not great, it was all a little gland for our taste. I ordered the darkened Snapper for $19 and it was not darkened at all, in fact it seemed very little to season. The cream sauce with lump cancer was good, but the grapes below were very dry and solid. My wife got the chicken gumbo with shrimps and it was also very embarrassing. Gumbo should be full of spices and have a little kick. It was in a fun location, the old house is nice and the kids had fun, but I probably wouldn't go back.
We had a great time, the waiter was phenomenal! Definitely will return
Great experience start to finish. Our sever, Eric, was amazing! He explained the menu thoroughly, but quickly. He was very attentive and responsive to our requests. The food was delicious and the bill was reasonable for what The Pirates House is, a well respected and popular, consistent dining experience in a tourist town.
