Bar Brasserie le St Nicolas - Saumur

Encouraged by an interesting Plat de jour and a good location in the old town in a pedestrian area. The menu had a couple of choices for each course although we struggled to make ourselves understood. I so wanted to give a better review but the food was local but boring and not much better than average

Nice terrasse and very nice service and good coffee and drinks. Since the brasserie was close to our hotel we frequented it in the morning for good coffee and in the afternoon/evening for a drink. Nice people watching opportunity.

An excellent local bar in the historic centre of the beautiful Loire valley town of Saumur. Lovely good value home made set meals and snacks at lunchtime. Good choice of drinks, fairly priced. The interior of the bar is very comfortable with wall displays of vintage vehicles and music. Outside there are seats and tables where you can while away the hours in the sun, people gazing. The bar is open from very early morning to around 7.30 pm yet the hard working proprietor has a welcoming smile for all. A family business, this bar is a jewel of a find.

We always try and eat here when we come to Saumur. The owner never seems to leave!! He is open from early to about 20.00 hours. He is very helpful. His staff are lovely, they do not speak English which is great. Their food is exceptional, home cooked and always superb. We had steak with caramelised onions and chips and the chips were home made, then tarte tatin pomme outstanding once again.

Nous avons déjeuné vendredi dernier dans cette brasserie. Le cadre est assez atypique avec une décoration vintage qui donne une atmosphère chaleureuse. Les plats sont composés de produits frais et sont bien cuisinés. Le personnel est agréable. Nous avons passé un bon moment pour un petit prix ! Je recommande sans problème !!
