La Mexicana - SAUK CITY

A hidden gem of Sauk City! Was out at Sauk Prairie Recreation Area, and stopped here for a quick dinner. I've been told the Mexican food here was the real deal and nom nom nom it is. Complimentary chips and salsa and a bangin playlist greats you as you sit down. I got the enchiladas. My friends got a torta and Chile rellenos. All of them were so good! Meat was juicy, the value was great! They had a spicy spicy red sauce and a less spicy green one. These are definite must add! TLDR: try it all, and stay for that reggaeton!

Honestly, worst Mexican food I've had in a very long time. Staff was very nice, but the food had zero flavor. I ordered nachos, and I think Taco Bell does a better job. Sorry to say. Definitely NOT planning a return trip.

Pre-covid I would stop at this restaurant every other week and meet friends, its convenient location right off the main drag/state highway through town was perfect for a quick lunch. It's a small restaurant with cute decor and plenty of sun from the windows. The staff is always very courteous, the food always arrives quickly, and the price is great for the quantity of food you get. Their lunch specials were my usual go-to, especially seafood tacos, and their bottomless chips and salsa basket was stupendous. I'd always order a side of guacamole for my chips and it is some of the best fresh-made I've found in this part of the country.

Their steak fajitas are to die for! Great atmosphere and staff. Thursdays are the best- buy one margarita get one free!

This was the best Mexican food we have ever had. We wished we lived closer!. 2 people can eat for under$20. We would highly recommend THIS PLACE!
