Gold Star Donut - Sarasota

Hole in the wall donut shop just north of the Sarasota Airport. Nothing fancy about the place but it's a donut shop. They service you with a smile, and seems to be a family run business. If you are looking for old school types of donuts without all the crazy toppings this is the place. They also have kolaches for breakfast and some unconventional croissants one with strawberry/cheese which is a winner. If you want some donuts that aren't small this is the place. If you want a donut place where they don't overcharge you for donuts this is definitely the place. We usually grad donuts from them once a week for the office.

A no frills placeGold Star is a small takeout place, there is no table seating inside. I stopped by to get a couple of donuts to eat while driving home. As soon as I walked in and looked at the display cases, I knew I wanted their Apple Fritter. It was great, definitely sweet but not overwhelming, with a bit of a crunch. I still wanted a donut and selected their White Cream donut, with chocolate on top. It was also great.There were no other customers when I arrived so it was a quick in and out, not much interaction with the person helping me. She seemed nice. I ended up laying my treats on the hood of my car to take a photo, and while I was messing around doing that I saw several other customers stopping in for their donut fix.

Just very high quality donut shop. They aren't over the top like a lot of the newer donut shops but the taste is much better. Prices are very reasonable.

By far my favorite place to get donuts from! The staff is so friendly and they have the best kolaches in town!
