It is hard to say what we like best about this family-run restaurant: food, attractive surroundings or the wonderful owner. But, to be honest, it's the food that brings us back. Most of the time, my wife and I order the Mexicanissimo Special-Huevos...rancheros, who are crushed in the best Huevos sauce that we have experienced after years of taste testing both in the southwestern USA and Mexico. This dish has required these Chilean heats to make it really mexican, but the spices do not overwhelm our Gringo-Schmuckbuden. We order our eggs ciego (blind), that is, with a white surface that covers the egg yolk. Otherwise the eggs are more casual than we want. We have experimented with other menu items, but so far we haven't gone too far from the ranch. My wife found her divorced eggs to be quite good despite her fall problems. Our friends tell us Mexikanissimo has the best Chilaquiles they cost in Mexico after two years. We heard that the Menudo is excellent. This restaurant closes daily at 6 pm, so it is a good place for breakfast, for lunch and perhaps for early dinner. Note that Sunday mornings can be crowded, so we usually visit Saturday mornings that are less busy. As you can see from the attached photos, the restaurant is attractive both inside and outside. There is even a playground for the children. One of the great attractions of this place is undoubtedly Jovial owner C.P. Jose de Jesus Jaubert Davila. We like to call him Jose de Jesus Jaubert Davilla short. His warm smile and inviting ways do not fail to brighten our day. He also speaks pretty good English, which helps us feel at home. We really like the waiters here; they are human, professional and helpful. Some tips. Mexikanissimo is located on the right side of Caretera Nacional (Highway), while you drive south from Monterrey to Santiago. Despite the great sign, the restaurant is easy to miss, because it is hidden from the neighboring Nubes event centre. So, as you drive down the highway, look for the Nubes sign. If you see it, slow down and make a right turn just past the Nubes shield in the Mexicanissimo parking lot. It'll probably be a pretty young man to tie you up. If you see C.P. Jose de Jesus Jaubert Davila, tell him the Gringos sent you.
A very good place with very reasonable prices
This is an update of the review submitted in October 2011. The restaurant has a new sign of the highway. See photo. After the security situation has improved in the Monterrey area, the owner plans to extend the operating hours to 22:00. And Jose made his children run the restaurant, so we don't see him as much as we used to.
