When our rent car had broken up near us, we were so happy as it was only from the beaten stretch and a little jewel! the owner was extremely helpful in keeping with the car recovery people and helped us home....The wee was beautiful, the prices are much better and they all have football.
Had eaten here before, eating was not bad, so there was another one. waited for us for over 90 minutes, no apologies or something so had a quick word with a waiter, which I thought was unapologetic and stormed in a huff came back and said other tables still before us, so we would no longer wait (it was 4 of us) he directed for he seemed to support the old young brigade that was there for years. it was all very unpleasant that was made worse that every time we came by for the rest of the holiday, he stood at the front of the bar that gave the evil eye. a rudder version of basil faulty.
Ate here twice on our last visit to resort may/june,found food to be great, took our granddaughter and partner here for a meal on this break, they as well as us thought it fantastic, especially the t-bone steak(and the pepper sauce),that good we came again a few days...later. Great value, great service,4 visits in 2 holiday weeks, must say something about the place
The only good thing I can say about The Toby Jug is that the young waiter is nice and friendly. We had a meal here, well I say meal but I would question what was actually on the plate. My daughter ordered pork ribs and...found that although hot on the outside they were cold on the inside. I told the waiter who told someone else I am assuming is the owner who got the hump because she had eaten some of the ribs before telling him they were not cooked through. Anyways, the ribs were whipped away and back on the table about three minutes later having quite evidently been put in the microwave, chips and all. The sauce was bubbling hot and stuck to the plate......not fully cooked pork is asking for trouble, not fully cooked pork reheated in a microwave and then dumped back on the table is an absolute joke. And to top it all of we were still charged for the plate of possible food poisoning.....I couldnt even be bothered to challenge' the bill for fear that I would soon be struck down with some type of food related grimness. I had the roast' which should have the owner up before the beak under the Trades Description Act. The chicken roast' is in fact what I do believe was a slab of frozen chicken that had been fried with frozen mixed veg (I know the veg was definitely frozen because it was still cold in the middle, much like the ribs problems with the microwave I'm assuming), also adorning my sad little place was a boiled potato and then a fried boiled potato and a frozen yorkshire. It was awful, really horrible and harks back to the 1980's when everyone thought it was perfectly acceptable to nuke the goodness and flavour out of food. Slightly acceptable then, just like the perm, blue eye make-up and excessive shoulder pads, but not really nowadays. Obvs wouldnt recommend, it turned my stomach every time I walked past the place.....give it a very wide swerve unless you love a bit of cheap, nasty microwaved food. If I could give this a 0 star, I would
