Contribuiți la feedbackIt was a complete disappointment. Had I known the hotel was renovated over an alley, I would have opted for a different location. Coffee served in paper cups, water in plastic, and the use of wooden or bamboo utensils and plates simply do not create a "luxury" experience. We all agreed that for the price we paid, we should have gone to Ivy at the Shore, just a block away, where food is served on china and arrives hot since it doesn’t have to be carried down an alley to reach the table. We won't be returning, even though we used to enjoy this place.
I have had great experiences in the Veranda Restaurant in the past, but unfortunately, my recent visit was disappointing. The service was slow and unenthusiastic, and the staff seemed inattentive. Additionally, cleanliness was a major issue; everything was dirty. We chose to sit on the veranda since the lobby is under renovation, but the seat cushions were stained, and the bathroom was not very clean. The floors also appeared to be neglected. Overall, the atmosphere felt far from welcoming. I hope that once the renovations are finished, things will improve. This restaurant should offer a sparkling, first-class experience, but it did not meet those expectations during my visit. I cannot recommend it at this time.
The breakfast was not worth the price, and the service was below standard.
The menu that was given to us was not the same as the website. The food was terrible. The Brioche bread for the Californian reels was stale. All three were stabbed and there was no celery in the lobster mix. The expensive wine came in plastic cups. One of the dinners came 30 minutes after dinner. They offered to bring a lobster roll instead of the late meal, and my sister told them she was allergic, but she nevertheless brought it out. It was a terrible experience. Nobody seemed to be interested. And we ordered at 6:15 and our food came at 7. I can't believe how much we spent for the worst culinary experience in LA and I was here for a while. Now I know why this place is always empty.
The appetizers and drinks were excellent. I think the setting has potential. It could use linen table cloths, flowers and perhaps votive candles for after dark to set more inviting experience on the veranda! One of your competitors, Ivy by the Shore does that. Although, your place has less of an attitude of superiority! The service could be better, it appeared that the hotel was short staffed.
