Al 58 - SANTA MARINELLA

The joys of getting off the autostradas is not only do you get to see fantastic vistas but you get to experience local food. Al58 is one such. A little seafood restaurant right on the beach, its fresh, its delicious, the service is friendly and efficient and it has great views of the sea. Unfortunately this delightful lunch break came to a terrible end as when we walked back to our car we found it had been broken in to and all our luggage stolen! Our bags were all in the boot and were not visible from outside so clearly this was a gang that knew what they were doing!! We reported to the carabiniere who couldn't do much other than write out a police report. Subsequently checking on travel forums it turns out that this is a regular phenomenon here and several tourists over the years have faced a similar traumatic theft , hence I hesitate to recommend this restaurant solely for this reason. The town should do something to improve the situation of such rampant thefts, else this beautiful seaside town will suffer in the long run if such incidents continue unchecked. This is why I have given it 3 stars. Despite 5 star worthy food we left with a very bitter taste in our mouth.

WATCH OUT!!! All luggage stolen from our car while we were eating here!!!! Do not stop here with any property in the car! Leave the trunk visible and empty to not be tempting! This is an organized operation with people getting their stuff stolen daily.. read other reviews... unfortunately those reviews didn't show up when I was checking the place. Simple place with nice view, but food is actually pretty good.

Lunch with friends in this restaurant that literally overlooks the sea in a palafitta factory, at the entrance of Santa Marinella. The very kind staff tells us the booked table and from the menu we notice a great abundance of dishes proposed. We order various sea appetizers that include bruschette mussels and clams, some fried but here and a fish salad. For main course I order a dish of ravioli to the cream of shrimps and lemon maybe a little too lemon but they are very good and above all MOLTO plentiful! , while other people spaghetti to the clams or a mixed grilled sea here too is very abundant . Unfortunately the negative side arrives in the second part of the lunch where some of us decide to add also of the frittures but, once brought to the table, we ask for three times! the necessary cutlery rightly the previous dirty had been taken away with the previous dishes and we were without . Not seeing them coming after a long time we had to eat some parts with the hands!! and the remaining fried parts, once had the forks, had cooled. Unfortunately this, probably also due to the vast crowd of people present that day, ruined lunch a little. The final account came on average, considering that it is a fish lunch while the place still remains special especially for the beautiful facade on the sea.
