Everyone gets the peking duck here! The duck is roasted well crunchy skins, barely any fat remaining under the skin. The meat, as Shirley H. wrote in her review, is mild in flavor, different from the Cantonese version or the smoked tea duck that I prefer. I like that they use the traditional thin crepes for the dish; it's served along with the shredded cucumber, beets, and green onions. In addition, the duck order comes with a choice of a dish made with the bone either soup with duck bones, tofu, and Napa cabbage, or deep fry salt pepper duck bones. We opted for the soup, which came at the end of the meal, and offered a satisfying wrap to the meal. Pro tip: pre order the duck a day ahead! We ordered two additional dishes and together, these were perfect for our party of four: rainbow skin: a cold noodle salad dish stir fry eggplant and string beans All in all, a solid Beijing restaurant, decent prices too!
I was craving for Peking duck so decided to go to Boiling Beijing and see if it's as good as Great China in the East Bay. We preordered a large) duck $79 serves 4-6pax) instead of a small one $64? serves 1-3pax). The duck came out in two separate vessels, one for the skin and some meat under and the other one contained the duck and skin slices. The skins were indeed crispy and you can tell it was freshly made. The Peking duck has a very mild flavor compared to the Cantonese version of roasted duck which has a more gamy flavor. We also opted for the duck bone soup but it was lacking in flavor and more diluted than expected. Overall the duck was good and given the proximity, it's easier for me to get to than going to the east bay. I think the Peking duck from both Great China and Boiling Beijing are comparable so you can't go wrong with either one.Service was ok and adequate.Parking a bit difficult, street parking only.Hole in the wall kind of restaurant. I came here before and had their lamb stew hot pot before which was excellent.
Amazing food. Ordered the beef and the string beans with eggplant. All of it was cooked to perfection. I mixed all the food together, had a side of steamed rice and destroyed it. Only problem I have is that I didn't get more.
The roast Beijing Duck made to order is amazing. and you have a choose to have the chef prepare soap or a stir fryed dish with the duck meat after the crispy skin is shear off.Great experience!
