Contribuiți la feedbackWent to Gruet for my Bachelorette party and it was the MOST amazing service and champagne! Paul made my day and all my friends with his humor, knowledge about wine and goes beyond and beyond. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDATIONS!!!
As someone who works in the wine industry, I have been to tasting rooms and wine bars around the world. Never have I experienced such poor service and representation from the absurdly rude staff. I recommend buying Gruet wines from a local store on the outskirts of town, Kokoman. They have a great selection and they are actually happy for you to be here. I hope all the negative reviews here about the staffing issue at Gruet will invoke some positive change for better representation of some honestly great wines!
We are traveling with our dog and it is COLD in Santa Fe this week but I really love Gruet sparkling wine and wanted to visit the tasting room. The staff at Gruet went out of their way to make us comfortable on their cozy patio with heat lamps and blankets. We learned a little about Gruet's history, enjoyed a couple tasting flights, had delicious snacks, and a wonderful late afternoon experience. Highly recommend. The wines are great and the staff is outstanding!
Founded in Bethon, France, his own fine French champagne-style wine, the winemaker Gilbert Gruet came over some winemaking pioneers, while on a trip to the southwestern USA in 1983. Hearing the experiences of these Europeans who make wine from New Mexico grapes has awakened his interest. The sandy soil and high elevations along with the swing at night and day temperatures seemed like ideal conditions for the cultivation of grapes he was familiar with. Two of his children took the adventure to establish the state as a first place for the production of fine sparkling wines in 1984. The focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes and some Pinot Meunier was in 1989 (from the 1987 harvest). In 1993, the Albuquerque tasting room was set up and in 2016 a tasting room of Santa Fe was followed. What started as a dream and opportunity is now a well-known source for some of the best sparkling wines in the Unites countries. In addition to grapes from New Mexico, grapes from vineyards in California and Washington are also added. With the focus on Méthode Champenoise, you know that you are experiencing for a fantastic tasting. We tried the tasting room in Santa Fe. When you enter, you will be immediately mesmerized by the bright decor, easily visible bottles of Bubblies, and friendly staff will be ready to help you. Tasting usually takes place in different flights or customer-specific, and there are non-parking wines to try as well. We're stuck with the Chardonnay/Pinot Noir sparks for our visit. First was the Sauvage NV. This Chardonnay-Bubbly bone has been dry for 24 months with fine bubbles and notes of apples and citrus. Next was the Blanc de Blancs NV. This Brut style sparkling has a cestier feeling with tropical notes and apples. We were intrigued with the Blanc de Blancs 2018. This 42-month pension has some toast notes of almonds and ripe apples along with an excellent long finish. We were thrilled by the Gilbert Gruet Grande Reserve 2016. This Chardonnay-based animal was retired one year in oak and three years. In addition to the super fine bubbles, there is a great minerality, plus citrus and apples, along with a lush cream. Yeah, wow! The other four sparkling wines we tried were Pinot Noir. The Barrel-aged Bland de Noirs NV added 10% Chardonnay. For six months in French oak plus 16 months sur latte, the strawberry aromas were wonderful along with vanilla and pineapple flavors. The Sauvage Rosé NV was all Pinot Noir. This two-year jewel was also bone dry and had notes of strawberries and cherries along with very fine bubbles. The other 100% Pinot Noir Sparkling we tried was the Brut Rosé NV. It was quite aromatic with more strawberry notes and a bit more acid to the finish. Enjoy a great one for the last and enjoy the 2016 Grande Rosé. Also mixed with 10% Chardonnay, this beautiful Bubbly will give you over mid palate with black cherries, some cream, and a very satisfying long finish. Everything served here is quite good and we are sure you will run away with a few bottles as souvenirs. You will feel warm and welcome here as well as be entertained by the friendly employee chat. We've been obsessed with mine since my man heard a few years ago. we came to Valentine's Day while we were in the city and it was a large small place for wine tasting in a relaxed and entertaining environment. my man has a flight for maybe $18 and they were great pouring out. I'm pregnant, I couldn't pamper, but they made me a delicious lavender glitter soda! we also had the cheese plate and it was delish.
