Uncle Fung Artisan Noodle - Santa Ana

I am not sure if this business is still open during quarantine, but I hope it is. I've been here two times and both times, the food did not fail to impress. I got their #3 (flat noodle) the first time and #1 (homemade noodle) the second time and I prefer the #1 the more. We ordered roti and it is delicious as well. I love the the coconuty flavor. The size of the restaurant is relatively small but no wait. The service is typical of an Asian business. I'd say that this is some of the best Malaysian food in OC.

Been here twice now and the food has been awesome each time! Staff are friendly and helpful, and everything is nice and clean. I love the brick interior and simple cultural decorations too.We tried dry noodles and wet noodles, both were delicious. The dry noodles remind me of Vietnamese mi kho where the noodles are seasoned and come with a side of broth. The wet noodles come in a fantastic coconut based broth. If you like Indian curry, which uses coconut milk, you'll definitely like the noodles here. My favorite thing is the texture of the noodles. Because they're made in-house, they are nice and chewy and never over cooked.The roti with curry sauce is a must! Super crispy and flakey, the roti goes perfectly with the savory, yet slightly sweet, curry sauce (also coconut milk based).The chicken satay is very tasty and perfectly cooked. The regular rice comes topped with the same curry sauce from the roti. I definitely want to try the coconut rice next time though.Highly recommended, everything we had was delicious and I'll be coming back for sure!

I was watching Singapore food on Youtube and was craving egg noodles. It gave me the push to try this place that I have bookmarked on yelp for a few months now. Service was decent for an Asian place. We started with Roti Prata and it was delicious. The flatbread with hot and crispy the curry was perfect. For dinner, my family ordered Malaysia kolo mee, Laksa mee and Nasi lemak satay. Laksa mee was a little too sweet for me. Nasi Lemak satay was tasty. The coconut rice was fragrant and the chicken skewers was well seasoned, tender and moist. Malaysia kolo mee was good but nothing amazing. Bbq pork was cut very small, the noodles was more like ramen. I wished it was the thick cut egg noodles, the fishball was tiny and sliced fish cake was bland. Did I get what I craved? Somewhat I guess but I don't think I would make the drive here.

Relatively small restaurant with a very small menu, you basically only get to choose: chicken satay, roti, laksa, two different types of dry noodles, some rice dishes, and drinks with grass jelly. I'm not mad at the small menu though, they do it well and hopefully limits wait times. I've heard the service can be slow and while our wait wasn't too long, I can see that they could use more server help. Laksa was delicious! While still not the most authentic tasting, I'll take what I can get. We need more places that sells laksa!

Truly a hidden gem for some fantastic and delicious noodles.Borneo cuisine is a influenced by Indonesian and Maylasian cultures, so if you're familiar with the cuisine, it's pretty authentic. If you're not, this is a great opportunity to get introduced to it.Starting off with the roti parata is a great way to whet your appetite. It's a fried flour-based pancake cooked over a flat grill. Served with Borneo island curry sauce, it's borderline addicting. The pancake is fluffy and light and the sauce is slightly spicy and creamy.I typically prefer dry noodles, so I'm a huge fan of their hokkian mee. It's fresh egg noodles upon which mounds of BBQ pork, chicken, mushroom, diced scallions, fried shallot, and vegetables are piled upon. The noodles are cooked to perfection with a chewy and medium firm texture. The meats are tender and juicy, and the accompanying veggies provide a crisp and crunchy change of texture to the dish. Make sure you mix well before eating to ensure you get a bit of everything in each bite.
