Iced coffee is with 7,50 totally overpriced if u feel like ice cream go for the Cornetto or Magmum not to be disappointed. The old guy taking the orders was friendly though.
Very nice location and very good beer (Augustiner Bräu). The most important fact it is cheaper then the one at the top of the mountain. Very good warm Apfelstrudel.
We hiked up Schafsbergspitze with our three children aged nine to fourteen years and our 70+ years 'young' grandma in some 3 to 3.5hours walking time. The 1200m altitude climb is strengthening but perfectly do-able, no technical difficulties. Climbing up is probably easier than walking down. The route starts near the Schafsbergbahn station, walk ~500m along the shore road in the direction leading away from St Wolfgang center. Well signposted route starts there. We stopped at the Schafsbergalm for lunch. The Schafbergalm serves the traditional Austrian mountain hut basic food. Seating inside and outside with an excellent view. The atmosphere is certainly better and the food better value for money than at the Schafsbergspitze.
The view, the quality, the price were all excellent. It's just below the summit of the mountain, last station before terminus on the train.
Excellent views reasonably priced good food, take cash with you as they don't accept credit cards. There are deck chairs to laze about on when the sun is shining. Book your downward train journey as soon as you reach the top.
